OUR WORK

Healthy oceans for the planet, people, and prosperity.

A Nature-Positive Future

At Aquari, we think that having healthy oceans creates a better world to live in for everyone…for the Earth, people, the economy and for peace. To accomplish this we need to protect our oceans, restore damaged ones or monitor ones currently being nurtured to sustain both nature and communities globally. We support a worldwide goal of stopping and reversing the loss of nature by 2030, with full recovery by the year 2050.

Our 2030 Impact Targets

We take an integrated approach to our oceans. Our targets are audacious because the times call for it.

🌍

Planet

Stopping the degradation of our ecosystems and restoring the fishery resources that exist within the areas we work.

🤝

People

Providing food and livelihood security to 100 million people around the world.

📈

Prosperity

Creating economic prosperity for the world by using nature-based solutions to protect billions of dollars in economic infrastructure that are vulnerable to climate change.

🕊️

Peace

Building peaceful communities by managing marine resources in a way that reduces conflicts, crime and instability.

When Oceans Thrive

Ecosystems & Biodiversity

The Ocean provides ecosystems that contain a wide variety of plant and animal species, as well as naturally occurring minerals, that can help communities adapt to and survive climate change. Ocean ecosystems also sequester a significant amount of carbon dioxide by removing it from the atmosphere through photosynthesis. Oceans also help to fuel the water cycle as they create rain and fresh water, and they produce oxygen.

Thriving Ocean Life

How Can We Get Started?

Action for the Ocean

We all know that marine ecosystems and the various species within them depend on the existence of healthy and sustainable oceans. We also know that many marine animals (e.g., whales, sharks, polar bears, and turtles) are extremely valuable to humans and rely on healthy and productive ocean ecosystems for their survival. Coastal communities also depend on the health and productivity of their ocean ecosystems for their own livelihood.

  • Shift Mindsets: Instead of just reducing the damage that we do to the environment, we need to shift our focus towards rebuilding the Natural ecosystems that have been degraded; so as to restore our fractured relationship with nature.
  • Inclusive Processes: Combine many different forms of Scientific knowledge as well as Traditional Knowledge from First Nations or local communities.
  • Holistic Approaches: Recognize that humanity has both an impact on nature but also an intrinsic reliance on it for survival.
