Hello, and thank you for visiting my site.
This site reflects the culmination of my English 323: Writing for the Web class, and serves to introduce you to me, my accomplishments, and several samples of my work. Please enjoy.

My name is John Matusiewicz, I am 25 years old, and I was born and bred in central New Jersey . I am the oldest of seven children.
My early college career focused on environmental science rather than English; however, after becoming disillusioned with the sciences and being “recruited” into the field of English by an early professor, I found my true academic love and calling in writing. I am not a poet, novelist, or short story writer though, as I have chosen to focus my energy and talents in the field of technical writing – writing which I feel has more of an application in the business world.
Outside of the classroom, I participated in lacrosse during all four of my years at King's, and was named captain my senior year. I started in every game of every season while I was here. Playing lacrosse was the highlight of my college experience, and nothing has taught me more about hard work, dedication, friendship, or life in general. One of these experiences, the loss of a teammate due to an injury that he sustained during a fall practice, is touched upon in one of the writing samples that I chose to include in this portfolio.
Besides English and lacrosse, I enjoy the outdoors and my three energetic, incredibly loyal dogs. I am also an accomplished fly fisherman, fly tier, and upland bird/small game hunter.
For the time being I have my sights set on obtaining a position somewhere in either the field of marketing or advertising; if those don't come through than anything business related has an appeal to me. I also hope to do some freelance work writing for outdoor magazines. I have a passion for hunting and fishing, and being able to turn this into something that makes money for me would be great. Going to grad school and then on to teaching at the collegiate level also holds some appeal.
