Community
Based Matches: This is the heart of our service and the foundation of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Volunteers are carefully screened, trained, and matched to children between the ages of 7 and 17. Goals for the match are developed by the caseworker with input from the parent, volunteer, and child. The match is then carefully supervised by the caseworker. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age (and a junior in high school). |

School-Based
Matches: Through partnerships with various local school districts and Big Brothers Big Sisters, volunteers are now available to visit with children for one hour each week after hours at the child's school to provide extra attention and help with schoolwork. This program is meets at the child's school the same day/time every week under the supervision of a caseworker in a group setting. During their weekly visit, the Big Brother or Big Sister may play educational games, engage in recreational activities, read a book together, or just talk. Waiting List Programs: Volunteers work with children from the waiting list in supervised group or one-to-one activities on a limited basis. <<Back to CitySERVE |
