Spaghetti and Meatballs

For the meatballs:
1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 lb ground pork
1/2 lb ground veal
3 slices of Italian bread soaked in milk (squeeze dry)
1/2 chopped onion
2 tablespoons of parsley
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
1/2 cup grated Romano cheese
2 eggs
Vegetable oil.

For the pasta:
1 pound of spaghetti
1/3 cup olive oil
3 cloves of garlic
1/2 chopped onion
2 28 oz cans of tomato puree
1/4 cup of water
2 basil leaves
1/2 teaspoon oregano
salt and pepper

  1. For meatballs, combine all ingredients except for vegetable oil.
  2. Knead mixture gently.
  3. Shape into balls (maximum 2 inches in diameter).
  4. Heat up oil into large pan. 
  5. Place balls into pan, pre-heat oven 450 degrees, heat until brown on all sides.
  6. Heat oil into pot over medium heat.
  7. Add garlic and onion with oil until oil is translucent.
  8. Add tomatoes, and seasoning (basil, oregano, salt/pepper).
  9. Add water and bring to a boil, after boil lower heat.
  10. Simmer for 45 min. and add meatballs.
  11. Simmer for 30 min.
  12. For pasta, bring large pot to boil.
  13. Add salt and spaghetti until cooked.
  14. Drain pasta, add sauce, add meatballs and enjoy.
